Biography
Mr. Hassett is a partner and the primary litigator in the firm. He attended the University of North Texas, where he obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in corporate finance in 1993, and the University of Texas School of Law, graduating with his Juris Doctorate degree in 1996.
He is rated “AV-Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell, a peer review directory. This rating indicates “that a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence.
Mr. Hassett was board certified in civil trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2007, and was recertified in 2012. He has extensive experience in representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a broad range of complex civil litigation matters, including construction claims, labor and employment matters, contract claims, business torts, and fraud related claims.
Michael and his wife of 25 years, Kristi, live in Flower Mound, where he enjoys spending time with his three sons, cycling, playing golf, and sporting events of all kinds, especially those involving the Texas Longhorns.

- Lead counsel for construction company in lawsuit alleging breach of contract with counterclaims alleging faulty work. Obtained jury verdict and substantial six-figure judgment for full amount sought in favor of our client.
- Lead counsel for corporation in sexual harassment and sex discrimination claims brought by a former employee in state court. Obtained judgment in favor of our client, with the former employee being awarded nothing.
- Lead counsel for corporation in a malicious prosecution claim with damage demands in excess of $100 million. Obtained jury verdict and judgment in favor of our client, with the plaintiff being awarded nothing.
- Lead counsel for construction company in defective work claim. Secured directed verdict in favor of our client in a jury trial in Harris County, Texas.
- Lead counsel for individual in trespass action against utilities company. Secured jury verdict and judgment in favor of our client and a finding that the utilities company acted with malice.
- Lead counsel for individual in a breach of promissory note claim. Secured jury verdict in favor of our client, with the plaintiff being awarded nothing.
- Lead counsel for corporation in sexual harassment and national origin discrimination brought by a former employee of our client. Obtained directed verdict in favor of our client, with the former employee being awarded nothing.
- Lead counsel for individual homeowner in defective construction claims against a builder in arbitration proceeding. Obtained favorable award from arbitrator against the builder, which was confirmed by the state district court
- Lead appellate counsel in appeal involving breach of contract case. Obtained a reversal of unfavorable judgment with the court of appeals also entering judgment in favor of our client without the expense of a new trial.
